The Structure of the Public Pension System

Following the unification of the employees' pension scheme on October 1, 2015, the Mutual Aid Association Members also shifted to employees' pension from mutual-aid pension. Japan's public pension system consists of the Basic Pension Scheme (National Pension for the entire nation) and the Employees' Pension Scheme (Welfare Pension as an addition to the Basic Pension Scheme).
As it is mandatory for members of the Employees' Pension Scheme and their dependent spouses to join National Pension, we will be joining two pension schemes, National Pension and Welfare Pension.
